Contribution by Sandipan Roy. Thank You !

There are two parking spaces for private cars (including rented cabs): one inside the old complex (costs Rs 200 for 2 hours and includes one passenger with a driver) and the other one inside the new complex (costs Rs 150 but not sure of the latest).. The south India bound trains depart from and arrive at the new complex.

However, there is also a parking outside the station complex, in between new and old complexes, on the opposite side of the road, which is used by Ola and Uber. So if you are booking an Ola and Uber, ask the porter to take to that parking. It costs Rs 50 per hour. But the parking charge is included in Ola’s system, so don’t pay the driver extra, although they demand it. You will be charged in the final bill.

There are two Prepaid taxi booths for each of the two complexes, but there are touts all over. Howrah Traffic police has a site for booking pre-paid taxis online up to 24 hours before arrival. There is a utomated vending machine where you need to key in the code you received through SMS and you will get a printed receipt with cab number. But i didn’t find this system to be efficient as the vending machines mostly don’t work. There are two exit routes from Howrah station, through the old bridge and the new bridge (tolled one).
